PH40824: Invalid numeric results using INVDATA(,NOCLEANSIGN)

Error description

• For some intermediate results involving an unsigned operand,
  compiled code inadvertently makes the result unsigned, leading
  to an invalid result.
  

Local fix

• Apply the June 2021 compiler PTF, which doesn't suffer from the
  problem.
  

Problem summary

  * USERS AFFECTED: Users of Enterprise COBOL 6.2 compiling and  *
  *                 running programs compiled with the           *
  *                 INVDATA(...,NOCLEANSIGN) option in effect,   *
  *                 and where the program contains a COMPUTE     *
  *                 statement satisfying the following           *
  *                 conditions:                                  *
  *                 1) There is a subtraction operation in the   *
  *                 COMPUTE expression involving operands that   *
  *                 are either packed or zoned decimal;          *
  *                 2) In the COMPUTE expression, the next       *
  *                 operation to be performed after the          *
  *                 subtraction is an addition operation;        *
  *                 3) One of the operands in the subtraction    *
  *                 operation is a literal;                      *
  *                 4) During execution of the COBOL program,    *
  *                 the subtraction operation produces a         *
  *                 negative result.                             *

  The compiler was inadvertently setting the sign nibble of the
  subtraction operation to x'C' after the intermediate
  computation.
  

Problem conclusion

• The compiler was updated to ensure that the sign nibble of the
  subtraction operation in this scenario is not cleaned at
  intermediate steps.
