APAR status

Error description

  • Currently when a key label is altered, and REORG option 'M'
('Mandatory') is selected, the key label change is applied to
the catalog but the underlying VSAMs are not encrypted. With
this APAR applied a REORG will be generated for option 'M' so
that the VSAMs are always encrypted.

Local fix

  • Select REORG option 'A' ('All').

*                      for the "Run REORG/REBUILD" option.     *

When altering the key label attribute of a table and specifying
M (Mandatory) for the "Run REORG/REBUILD" option, the resulting
WSL does not contain a REORG operation for the table space.
Without a REORG operation, the underlying VSAM data sets
either will not be encrypted with the new key label (if the
key label is changed or added), or will remain encrypted (if
the key label is removed).

Problem conclusion

  • The problem has been resolved.
