Error description

  • CICS region receives the following message:
DFHLG0772 An error has occurred during MVS logger operation
              IXGQUERY CHECKCONNSTATUS(YES) for log stream
              xxxx.yyyyyyy.DFHLOG.
              MVS logger codes: X'00000008', X'0000082D'.
              Log stream attributes: SYSTEMLOG(YES), DASDONLY(YES),
              STRUCTNAME(****************),
              RETPD(X'00000000'), AUTODELETE(NO).

The IXGQUERY reason code means IXGRSNCODEEXPIREDSTMTOKEN error.
The stream token is no longer valid because the connector
    has been disconnected.
This is followed by the following messages:

DFHLG0735 A failure has occurred while writing to the system log
(DFHLOG). Access to the system log has been lost.
              CICS will be terminated.
DFHKE1800 ABNORMAL TERMINATION OF CICS IS COMPLETE.

CICS design in such a case is to terminate and emergency restart
with Reconnect. This does this to avoid any potential issue with
    the data integrity and consistency.
This APAR is being taken to put out a more informative message
as to this behavior for these logger codes.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: No informational message issued for an *
    * IXGLOGR error with reason code of *
    *                      IxgRsnCodeExpiredStmToken (0000082D).   *
    ****************************************************************
If CICS is returned an 8,82D response from the z/OS Logger
then it issues generic failure message DFHLG0772. There is no
explanation of why CICS has to terminate in this particular
    case.

Problem conclusion

  • The CICS log manager will issue new informational message
DFHLG0803 if a call to the z/OS logger returns an error with
a reason code of an IxgRsnCodeExpiredStmToken (0000082D).
The CICS Messages manual will be updated with the following
    new message:

DFHLG0803 applid The z/OS logger has detected an expired stream
token on an operation against a CICS system log logstream.
Explanation: The z/OS logger has returned an
IxgRsnCodeExpiredStmToken (0000082D) Reason Code to the CICS
log manager. The token invalidation may be the result of an
    IXGLOGR region failure, for example.
System action: CICS has to terminate and reconnect to the
logstream during the next startup. An emergency restart will
ensure any inflight work is backed out in a coordinated manner.
User response: This is an informational message. Refer to
earlier message DFHLG0772 for further details of the z/OS logger
operation and logstream which returned the
    IxgRsnCodeExpiredStmToken Reason Code.
