PH39253: PROGRAM EXCEPTION WHEN CALLING COBOL NESTED PROGRAM FROM COBOL PROGRAM THAT USES AN ALTERNATE ENTRY

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• A COBOL program that is using an Alternate Entry point
  attempts to call a nested program  But an exception occurs, as
  the address for the nested program has not been properly set.
  The exception can vary (could be s0c1, s0c4, or other s0cx),
  depending on what is in storage.
  

Local fix

• Don't call a nested program from a program that uses an
  alternate entry point.

  A list of information needed by COBOL runtime routine IGZXSCC1
  was only being initialized at runtime when called through the
  main entry point of a program, but that list is also needed in
  alternate entry points when calling nested programs.
  

Problem conclusion

• The compiler was updated to ensure that the list of information
  needed by COBOL runtime routine IGZXSCC1 is initialized upon
  entry to an alternate entry that calls a nested program.
