Error description
Conditionally reduce severity of SSL0405E message
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM HTTP Server * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: SSL0405E may be reported at the end of * * a * * connection. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** SSL0405E (GSK_INVALID_STATE) generally occurs when IHS is trying to gracefully close a client connection. Before the socket can be fully closed, any additional data the client might send is read and discarded by IHS. Sometimes, reading data from an SSL connection triggers a write from the security library, but this can fail with GSK_INVALID_STATE because we have already told the socket we have already "shutdown the socket for writing". If IHS knows that the connection has already been shutdown for wrtiting and recieves an GSK_INVALID_STATE during a read, the message should be logged at lower severity.
Problem conclusion
After the fix, IHS treats this condition as a debug-level event only. The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in IBM HTTP Server fix packs 9.0.5.9. For more information, see 'Recommended Updates for WebSphere Application Server': https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/715553
