Error description

  • JMON uses the TSO submit method, which means it submits a
template TSO job which in turn submits the actual job. JMON
then waits for the template job to end so we can parse the
output and get the actual job number.

We see all this happening as planned, and the first time
waitForJobOutput() calls isJobPhase() to test for phase 20
(OUTPUT queue), the template job is in phase 14 (ONMAIN). We
wait a bit and try again, and this time the template job is in
queue 21 (OUTQUE). This is also an output queue, so this value
no longer changes (unless the job moves to the PURGE queue), but
we are still waiting for it to show up in queue 20.

JMON must be updated to also test for queue 21.

01.Using IBM Developer for z Systems with the 'Syntax Check -->
Remote' command, the generated JCL has step COBOL.SYSIN. All
Scandinavian special characters using code pages 277 and 278
and local Cp1252 cannot be identified correctly.

The problem can be reproduced as follow, using Scandinavian
codepage with characters () in the dataset name: . Set
codepage on MVS files . Allocate dataset with national
characters in the name. . Create a member with COBOL program
. Open the member for edit . Run remote syntax check The
Problem occurs Selecting the member in the Remote Systems
View and running Remote Syntax Check works correctly, but
when starting from an open editor and running Syntax Check >
       Remote is causing a problem.
02.Enhancement to collect java.security information with
       FEKLOGS
03.z/OS Explorer JMON does not detect TSO SUBMIT completion
when the template job output goes to the OUTPUT SERVICE
WRITER queue. This results in JMON waiting for a timeout
before reporting back to the client.

Bypass: change the template jobcard to send job output to a
       regular output queue
    04.FEKLOGS enhancement to test NLSPATH

Problem conclusion

  • 01.Update JCL generation and submission to use the same
encoding that is configured in Eclipse Workspace
       (Preferences/General/Workspace) to avoid the encoding
mismatch during JCL generation and submission.
02.Enhancement to collect java.security information with
       FEKLOGS
03.JMON now tests for OUTPUT and OUTWRT queues
    04.FEKLOGS enhancement to test NLSPATH
