Error description
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The compiler produces more than one IGYCB7311-W message for the data item on a given time. USERS AFFECTED: Users of IBM Enterprise COBOL 6.x compiling programs with INITCHECK that contain statements that use the same data item more than once. PROBLEM SUMMARY: The compiler checks each use of every data item and reports all places where each data items is uninitialized. If a data item is used more than once on the same COBOL statement, the compiler sees that as two different uses and reports it multiple times. CONCLUSION: The compiler was fixed so that uninitialized data items are only reported once per line. Note that if two distinct data items with the same name are used on a single COBOL statement and are uninitialized, the compiler will generate a message for each.
Local fix
WORKAROUND/CIRCUMVENTION: Compile with NOINITCHECK or ignore the duplicate message.
