Users of JSF Portlet Bridge will encounter a
    NullPointerException during any
    request.
    Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException at

Additionally, it is possible for Liberty users of JSF-2.0 to
be affected if the view state string is modified improperly in
    any way.

Problem conclusion

  • The JSF implementation was updated to handle a missing or
corrupt viewstate string to avoid this NPE. The fix for this
APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 8.5.5.20
    and 21.0.0.6.

    Note: IBM WebSphere Application Server
version 9.0 is unaffected by this NPE.
