Error description

  • java.lang.InstantiationError:
ch.css.common.ibm.jaxb.bug.Child
at
ch.css.common.ibm.jaxb.bug.Child_JAXB_Deserialization_Stub.start
(ch.css.common.ibm.jaxb.bug.Child_JAXB_Deserialization_Stub.java
)

This problem resulted using Subclasses in a List or child XML
elements after setting system property
-Djaxb.fp.fallback.for.typed.arrays=true for
https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/apar/PI80477)

XML development reproduced the issue locally and confirmed that
it was related to enabling jaxb.fp.fallback.for.typed.arrays
property.

Depending on contents of JAXBContext (if does have typed array
such as int[]) there is no difference between
-Dcom.ibm.xml.xlxp.jaxb.opti.level=2 set and without it. As the
JAXBContexts with arrays such as int[] are not supported by
optimized code.

jaxb.fp.fallback.for.typed.arrays introduced in PI80477 is
enabled.
java.lang.InstantiationError is thrown as the the unmarshaller
does not correctly track the type of objects in the list.
