Error description

  • This APAR will introduce support for a CICS Management Client
Interface (CMCI) JVM server to be installed and configured in a
single, non-CICSplex, CICS region. This makes it possible to
use the following capabilities in a single CICS region that were
previously only available in a CICSPlex System Manager (SM)
    environment:

     - The CICS bundle deployment API, which allows developers to
directly deploy CICS bundles into a single CICS region,
including via the CICS-provided plug-ins for Gradle and
       Maven.

     - The CMCI GraphQL API, which enables advanced functions of
CICS Explorer to be used in a single CICS region, such as
aggregation and grouping of result data.

     - Multi-factor authentication (MFA), to sign-on to CICS
Explorer accessing a single CICS region.

Problem conclusion

  • This APAR adds support for a CICS Management Client Interface
(CMCI) JVM server to be installed and configured in a single
CICS region. This makes it possible to use the following
capabilities in a single CICS region that were previously only
available in a CICSPlex System Manager (CPSM) environment:
     - The CICS bundle deployment API, which allows developers to
directly deploy CICS bundles into a single CICS region,
including via the CICS-provided plug-ins for Gradle and
       Maven.
     - The CMCI GraphQL API, which enables advanced functions of
CICS Explorer to be used, such as aggregation and grouping of
result data, in a single CICS region.
     - Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to securely sign-on from
the CICS Explorer to a single CICS region.

CICS Explorer 5.5.20 is required to use these enhancements.
In addition, to deploy bundles using the CICS Bundle Maven
plug-in version 1.0.3 is required, or if you use the CICS Bundle
Gradle plug-in version 1.0.2 is required.

The CMCI JVM server can be configured in a single CICS system
through the use of a new option, SMSSJ, on the CPSMCONN CICS
system initialization parameter. Input, such as the intended
port number (CMCIPORT) is supplied through the EYUSMSS input
data set. The IBM Documentation for CICS Transaction Server
for z/OS 5.6 will be updated to provide further details. This
will include documenting new warning message EYUNX0110 which
will be issued if CICS attempts to install a URIMAP resource to
enable SMSS support using the CMCI JVMSERVER which conflicts
with a pre-existing URIMAP. In such cases consider removing any
pre-existing SMSS interface using resources based on DFH$WUTC
    and DFH$WUUR.
