APAR status

Error description

  • Servers with FIPS 140-2 is enabled using java 8.0-6.25 will fail
be able to use SSL communications.

SSL ports fail to start when IBMJDK 8.0.6.25 and IBMJCEFIPS
provider is used.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • WebSphere will disable the RSAPSS algorithm programmatically if
FIPS 140-2 is enabled in the configuration and IBMJCEFIPS
provider is used.

To check if FIPS is enabled in WebSphere's configuration, from
the adminconsole, security -> SSL certificate and key
management
> Manage FIPS
and check if FIPS is enabled.

or in security.xml, see if "com.ibm.security.useFIPS" is set to
true (enabled)


The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in
8.5.5.20 and 9.0.5.7. For more information, see
