PH33410: CICS ABEND WITH U1800 DUE TO THE CORRUPTION OF QPH CHAINS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• CICS region was started with Event Processing bundles enabled.
  Shortly after the CICS was initialized, the following messages
  started to show up in the log.
  
  +DFHSM0002 applid A severe
  error (code X'030D') has occurred in module DFHSMGF.
  +DFHSM0002
  applid A severe error (code X'031E') has occurred in module
  DFHSMGF.
  ...
  +DFHEC0001 applid An abend (code 0C4/AKEA) has
  occurred at offset X'BA72' in module DFHECSC.
  ...
  +DFHKE0301
  applid INSUFFICIENT STORAGE TO SATISFY GETMAIN IN MODULE
  DFHKESGM . MVS CODE 0004.
  
  Eventually, CICS terminated with
  U1800 code.
  Additional symptoms:
  Event processing task CEPF loops trying to get
  subpool lock for DFHECDQE. Here is the exception trace:

Problem summary

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A severe error (code X'030D') has       *
  *                      occurred in module DFHSMGF whilst       *
  *                      DFHECSC is processing a message event.  *
  *                      CICS then terminates with a U1800.      *
  ****************************************************************
  A bundle is active with a system capture point of message
  DFHZC3462. A field in this message is missing and that causes
  DFHECSC to overwrite a Storage Manager QPH chain with a move
  character of 255 bytes.
  
  When CICS finds the corrupt storage, 030D system dumps occur in
  DFHSMGF.
  
  While IPCS is processing the dump, the corrupt QPH chain causes
  the dump formatter to go into a loop.
  
  Messages and SDUMPs issued are -
  DFHSM0002 code X'030D' in DFHSMGF.   (many of these)
  DFHSM0002 code X'0316') in DFHSMGF.
  DFHSM0002 code X'031E' in DFHSMGF.   (many more of these)
  DFHEC0002 code X'36C2'in DFHECSC.
