Error description

  • If a data item used in EXEC statement is not defined, message
IGYPS2121 may be issued twice, it should be issued once per EXEC
    statement.

    USERS AFFECTED:
USers of Enterprise COBOL compiling programs with EXEC
statements and using CICS, SQL or SQLIMS compiler options.

Local fix

  • BYPASS/CIRCUMVENTION:
None(other than defining the missing data item)

Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED: Users of Enterprise COBOL V6.3 compiling *
    * programs with EXEC statements and using *
    * CICS, SQL or SQLIMS compiler options. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If a data item used in an EXEC *
    * statement is not defined, message *
    * IGYPS2121 may be issued twice, it *
    * should only be issued once per EXEC *
    *                      statement.                              *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. *
    ****************************************************************
The compiler generates many COBOL statements for a single EXEC
statement and there might be multiple references to a data item
that was only referenced once in the EXEC statement, resulting
in message IGYPS2121 getting issued more than once.

Problem conclusion

  • The compiler was changed to keep track of message IGYPS2121 and
if it has already been issued for a missing data item it will
not be issued again for that same data item.

Temporary fix
