Problem summary

• ****************************************************************
  * USERS AFFECTED: Users of Enterprise COBOL V6.3 who compile   *
  *                 with RULES(NOUNREFSOURCE) and have a         *
  *                 program with LENGTH OF with a LINKAGE        *
  *                 SECTION operand that is otherwise not        *
  *                 referenced in the program                    *
  ****************************************************************
  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The compiler reports that the LENGTH OF *
  *                      operand is unreferenced, but it IS      *
  *                      referenced by the LENGTH OF special     *
  *                      register.                               *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF and recompile         *
  ****************************************************************
  The compiler was not marking LENGTH OF operands as referenced so
  the RULES(NOUNREFSOURCE) reported the LENGTH OF operand as
  unreferenced.
  

Problem conclusion

• A special flag for LENGTH OF was added to show that it was
  referenced by LENGTH OF, but storage does not need to be
  available for the LINKAGE SECTION operand of LENGTH OF.
