Error description

  • Using IDZ 14.1.10  warning messages CRRZI0805W / CRRZI0802W are
output for jobs after DSN Validation Check.

When a validated JCL contains
DISP=(NEW,PASS) temp data set (&&STEP010) in STEP010
and DISP=(OLD,DELETE) in subsequent STEP020.

Select Source -> Validate JCL  -> Check "DSN validation" option

the  following messages are displayed as warning, rather than as
informational:

CRRZI0802W Resource SMPD.MNHS.DB.SMTEST1TB.IMG does not exist
CRRZI0805W Resource &DISP=(OLD,DELETE) is specified as DISP=OLD
but may have been deleted by a previous step which specified
DISP=(NEW,PASS,DELETE) on line 17

Local fix

  • 



Problem summary


    

  • Warning message shows up when second DISP=OLD refers to previous
 DISP which has PASS as normal sub-parameter. This is resulted
from a condition check which also includes checking DELETE in
abnormal disposition sub-parameter, which is indeed a valid and
default scenario

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • Warning message is removed and only will show up if the previous
 referenced dataset is explicitly deleted.
