Error description

  • You see the following message:
    .
    DFHAP0002 DBDCCICS A severe
error (code X'3255') has occurred in module DFHD2D2.
    .
    Analysis
of the CICS internal trace in the resulting dump shows that
earlier, the CEX2 task was doing a protected thread purge of a
thread that had probably been cancelled. The CEX2 task
successfully Associates the thread with the D2 TCB. Then the
TERM call fails with abend04E reason 00E50013 . Then the DISS (
dissociate ) fails with 00F30018 . The CSB for this thread ends
up with CSB_TCB_ADDRESS all zeroes, and CSB_DISSOCIATE_TOKEN
    all zeroes, and CSB_TO_BE_FREEMAINED set.
    .
    Later this thread
(CSB) is given to a new task to use. That is when the problem
    happens.

Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS Users. *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CEX2 is doing a protected thread purge *
    * when it suffers an abend 04E. *
    ****************************************************************
The CEX2 transaction is doing a purge of protected threads.
It first associates to the CSUB and this works correctly. CEX2
then issues a terminate thread call but this suffers an
abend 04E/00E50013. The dissociate call then also fails, this
time with 00F30018. The CSUB remains associated with the D2 TCB.
The next transaction which attempts to use this CSUB will get an
    INVALID_TCB exception.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHD2D2 has been changed to ensure the CSUB is tided up to
force a re-IDENTIFY to Db2 when the terminate thread and
    dissociate fail.
