If a schedule has a Cognos group in the recipient list, and we change that group's name we see unknown for that group in the schedule's recipient list.

Problem conclusion
Currently as designed. The UI maybe enhanced in the future to notify the user in a clear fashion the group needs to be re-added. In any case the group will need to be re added manually.
