Error description
An overlay of the EMSTATUS buffer in a CICSPlex SM MAS address space causes the XLNX long running notification task in a CMAS to abend each time a CPSM heartbeat message is posted by that MAS. The CMAS issues EYUXL0133I applid Notification Services Long Running Task terminated abnormally. The XLNX task also issues exception trace entries GETQXCP and XQGQFAIL. After 10 of these abends the CMAS address space is terminated. Additional Symptom(s) Search Keyword(s): KIXREVCHY CMAS shutdown XLNX

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICSPlex SM users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: An overlay in the version ID field in * * the headers of the EMSTATUS, EMASSICK * * or EMASWELL buffer areas of a MAS * * region will result in the Notification * * Services Long Running Task (XLNX) in * * the connected CMAS issuing an abend on * * every MAS heartbeat with message * * EYUXL0133I. After 10 abends the CMAS * * address space will terminate. * * * * Restarts of the CMAS address space will * * still encounter this issue until the * * overlay in the MAS address space is * * corrected. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTF which resolves * * PH23573, all CMAS and MAS regions should be * * restarted to activate the new code. The * * restarts do not need to occur at the same * * time, and may occur in any order. * **************************************************************** EMSTATUS, EMASSICK or EMASWELL buffers are propagated to the connected CMAS on each CPSM heartbeat. If the VersionId field is overwritten or corrupted, this will cause the XLNX task in the CMAS to abend on every heartbeat, this results in the following messages being produced in the CMAS : EYUXL0133I applid Notification Services Long Running Task terminated abnormally. EYUXL0132I applid Notification Services Long Running Task has started. After 10 abends in the CMAS, the CMAS address space will terminate.
Problem conclusion
Toleration logic has been added to detect the overlay or corruption in the version of the EMSTATUS, EMASSICK and EMASWELL control blocks and terminate the MAS agent. When the corruption of the field is detected on a MAS region, message EYUNL0132E will be produced stating : EYUNL0132E applid MAS Heartbeat detected critical overlay. The MAS agent will be terminated. The MAS agent on the region requires manually restarting or the region should be restarted after this to correct the overlay in the associated buffer. Following this, message EYUNL0905E is produced, along with an SVC dump for the region and the MAS agent is terminated. If the MAS is also a routing region for a workload, then message EYUXL0143A will be issued and will require an operator reply before the MAS terminates. CMAS regions will be notified of the MAS agent terminating on the MAS region. Message EYUNL0132E will also been seen in the CMAS EUYLOG DD card. The CICS 5.4 and 5.5 Knowledge Centers will be updated to add the following descriptions of EYUNL0132 and EYUXL0143 EYUNL0132W date time applid MAS Heartbeat detected critical overlay. The MAS agent will be terminated. EXPLANATION: The MAS heartbeat task, which issues notification events to the CICSPlex SM address space (CMAS) at regular intervals, detected an overlay of a critical storage area. The MAS agent will be terminated to protect the CMAS. SYSTEM ACTION: The MAS agent will be terminated. USER RESPONSE: Either restart the CICS system, or restart the MAS by issuing the COLM transaction from CICS; this transaction will restart the MAS agent code in a running CICS system .
