PH20560: UPDATE IHS 8.5.5.16 FAILS WITH ERROR GETTING FILE FOR INSTALLATION ON SOLARIS.

8.5.5.17: WebSphere Application Server V8.5.5 Fix Pack 17

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• On Solaris SPARC environment, with Installation Manager
  GUI, update from IHS 8.5.5.14 (with the interim fix of
  PH07691) or lower level fixpacks using 32-bit architecture to
  IHS 8.5.5.16 fails with following error:
  
  Error getting file for installation: 'zip
  com.ibm.websphere.IHS.ihsonly.32bit_005_solaris.sparc32_x
  8.5.5016.201908011439' not found in /opt/IBM/IMShared..
  

Local fix

• run imcl command as below to update IHS 8.5.5.16:
  
  ./imcl
  install com.ibm.websphere.IHS.v85,arch.64bit,core.feature
  -installationDirectory /opt/IBM/HTTPServer -repositories
  /tmp/wassup85516 -acceptLicense
  
  the IHS payload will keep its
  32-bit architecture.

  At default, when update IHS 8.5.5.16, Installation Manager
  will
  pre-load and install 64-bit IHS binaries. However, if it
  detects the current installed fixpack uses 32-bit binaries,
  it will try to install IHS 8.5.5.16 32-bit binaries instead of
  64-bit binaries. The problem is that Installation Manager only
  pre-load 64-bit binaries but not 32-bit binaries.
  

Problem conclusion

• The fix is to set Installation Manager properties to let it
  pre-load 32-bit IHS binaries if it detects the current
  installed fixpack uses 32-bit binaries.
  
  The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in IBM HTTP
  Server fix packs 8.5.5.17.  For more information,
