Error description

  • 837 2300 REF PAYER CLAIM CONTROL NUMBER IS REQUIRED WHEN CLM0503
(CLAIM FREQUENCY CODE) INDICATES A REPLACEMENT OR VOID.

In the 837, the 2300 REF PAYER CLAIM CONTROL NUMBER is required
when CLM0503 (Claim Frequency Code) indicates this claim is a
replacement or void to a previously adjudicated claim.

CLM0503 = 7 is a replacement and CLM0503 = 8 is a void.

Transaction are passing compliance when CLM0503 equals either
of these values. Compliance should fail instead.

and 59175 to capture this relationship for all 837 versions.
