    * statement with many arithmetic operations, *
    * where at least some senders are PACKED- *
    * DECIMAL or USAGE DISPLAY and where *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Unexpected behaviour, possibly a S0C7   *
    *                      abend.                                  *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. *
    ****************************************************************
    When spilling vector registers, the compiler's internal state
    became incorrect, causing a spilled 16-byte vector register to
    be reloaded as an 8-byte floating-point register. As the 16
    floating-point registers are shared with the first 16 vector
    registers, this caused a subsequent use of the vector register
    to contain an incorrect value.

Problem conclusion

  • The compiler was fixed to correctly reload a spilled vector
    register as a vector register and not a floating-point
    register.
