APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • In IBM Explorer for z/OS V3.1.1, when editing and saving a
dataset member, the client is misinterpreting the ACF2 Abend
913-0 and attempting to update a protected dataset.  Although
the RSE server properly trapped the abend 913-0, the client was
ignoring the reason code 0. The following error messages were
written to the RSE server log:

While the update is properly prevented by the underlying z/OS
system services, the user is unaware of the access violation.

Local fix

  • 



Problem summary


    

  • The client was too restrictive in it's handling of abend error
codes so it did not display a message in this instance.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • The client code needed to be changed to more generically handle
abend codes it doesn't recognize.
