Error description

  • After a warm start the TD queue job user is unexpectedly null.

    The job submit from CICS (CICS/TS 5.5) in the job card adds the
    string USER = (x'00').

    JOB card shows the following:

    //         MSGCLASS=Q,TYPRUN=HOLD,USER=
    66444444444DECCDCEE7D6EEDDED7CDDC6EECD700000000444444444444
    1100000000042733122E8B387945E8634B4259E00000000000000000000

    The problem only occurs with CICS TS Ver.5.5. The problem is not
    appearing in older CICS versions.

Local fix

  • A disable/close and discard of the TDQ followed by a CDA install
    of the TDQ can be used as a circumvention until the PTF can be
    applied. This will cause a rebuild of the DCT entry, preventing
     the problem when CICS is restarted as WARM.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Jobs submitted via a TDQ using an *
    * internal reader ( INTRDR ) fail as they *
    * have an invalid USER= appended to the *
    *                      JOB CARD.                               *
    ****************************************************************
    When a job card is written to an extrapartition transient data
    queue linked to an internal reader it will have an invalid
    USER= value of x'00's following a warm or emergency restart.
    The Jobuserid value is not saved in the CICS catalog and so the
    the TDQ definition is rebuilt incorrectly on restart. The job
    output shows these messages:
    IEFC452I jobname - JOB NOT RUN - JCL ERROR
    HASP110 value of USER= parameter is not valid

Problem conclusion

  • DFHTDOC and DFHTDTM have been updated to save the userid in
    the CICS catalog and restore it correctly on a warm or emergency
    restart.
