Error description
Testing with CICS Liberty, specifically the Link to Liberty feature, you receive an ABEND ATCV which is followed by message, DFHCZ0296: DFHCZ0296 call 'GetFieldID()' in DTCTask.c failed. The back-end task is running with a remote APPC session as a principal facility. The connection used for the remote APPC is MRO. The reason why an ATCV abend is returned is because DFHZXRL rejected the EXTRACT-PROCESS because the remote APPC session was in a FREE state. The code in DFHZXRL should be modified to return an OK response for the EXTRACT-PROCESS command even if the conversation is in a FREE state. Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: ABEND ATCV in application when issuing * * EXEC CICS EXTRACT PROCESS command with * * a remote APPC connection if the * * conversation is in a FREE status. * **************************************************************** The application is running with a remote APPC connection as principal facility. Command EXEC CICS SEND LAST CONFIRM is executed in application which sets the conversation status to FREE. After that, EXEC CICS EXTRACT PROCESS is issued. To process this command, DFHZXRL is called which checks the conversation status. As the conversation is in a FREE status, DFHZXRL rejected it with an INVREQ which results in ABEND ATCV.
Problem conclusion
DFHZXRL has been changed to make sure EXEC CICS EXTRACT PROCESS command can be executed when the conversation is in a FREE state.
