Error description

  • When the Policy for storage allocation has been met. The
    associated event is triggered. CODE added in CICS 5.4 writes
    some container records. This uses TASK31 storage. DFHMPAC thinks
    that the container TASK31 storage is exceeding the threshold.
    So an event is triggered. A "recursive loop" continues until all
    storage is exhausted and a SOS condition occurs. CICS has to be
    recycled to recover.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A CICS storage allocation policy goes *
    *                      into a never-ending recursive loop      *
    * and CICS either stalls "short on *
    *                      storage" or abends 40D.                 *
    ****************************************************************
    A CICS storage allocation policy is triggered, and drives
    an event adapter.
    The CICS MP domain begins a recursive loop, creating containers,
    and GETMAINing storage, which causes MP domain to be called
    again.
    Eventually CICS runs out of storage, and either goes SOS or
    abends 40D.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHMPAC has been changed to increment threshold values
    correctly.
