  • IBM Developer for z Systems - IDz - v14
DBCS characters in comments of JCL are not displayed correctly
in the Details view from variable substitution panel

When using Menu Manager Submit Variable substitution when you
click on the Detail button it will display the JCL in a preview
type panel just below the substitution variables.
If running on a DBCS system and the comments in the JCL have
DBCS characters these are not correctly displayed.

For Example:
In menu manager variable substitution for action
com.ibm.etools.varsubstitution >
          com.ibm.ftt.ui.menumanager.mfivarsubstitution

Submit,USER1.V41.TEST.JCL(COMPLINK),PROMPT,2,Variable,value,
Submit,COMPILE AND LINK,USERID,$userid,SYSIN,$datasetname,
PGM,$name

Select USER1.COBOL.PMR(CBLDEBEX) from remote system view and
right mouse click > select COMPLINK
click on the Details button
The JCL displayed does not show the expected DBCS comments

Problem summary

  • DBCS characters are incorrectly displayed in the IDz Menu
Manager JCL Variable Substitution JCL Preview panel.

Problem conclusion

  • The IDz Menu Manager JCL Variable Substitution code has been
changed to properly process DBCS characters in the JCL Preview
panel.
