Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED: 01.Users who query alias or symbolic *
    *                    dataset name.                             *
    * 02.Users who query MVS filesystem where the *
    * query encounters certain error *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 01.Dataset alias name may be resolved *
    * incorrectly to the original dataset *
    * name. In such cases, they are not *
    * included in the query result. *
    * 02.The MVS miner when retrieving the *
    * datasets, for example as in *
    * browsing the filesystem, may *
    * encounter error and the program is *
    * terminated with multiple CEE dumps *
    *                         with OC4 abend.                      *
    *                      03.Excess tracing                       *
    ****************************************************************
    01.Dataset alias name as a prefix of the real dataset name
       maybe missed in the name resolution during dataset query
       processing. Dataset alias name with a symbolic variable
       reference (without the optional end period) in the last
       qualifier would be missed in the symbol name resolution.
       This affects query with wild char.
    02.When the program exits, in the cleanup routine by its
       condition handler, the attempt to free an invalid internal
       data structure (dyn_t) may cause repeated CEE dumps with OC4
       abend.
    03.Excess tracing

Problem conclusion

  • 01.The two use cases of pattern in alias name were missed in
       the implementation coverage and testing. Alias name as a
       prefix of the real dataset name should be supported. The end
       period of the symbol variable reference in the last
       qualifier should be treated as optional.
    02.It's an logic code error and happens only in certain error
       uncommon condition. A flag to mark the valid status of the
       internal data structure is introduced for a proper free
       condition check.
    03.This reduces some of the trace messages
