Error description

  • This APAR addresses two issues:
    1. The Db2 Administration Tool User's guide states that the
SSID command can be enabled or disabled via the Tools Customizer
Product or Db2 Parameter "SSID Switching". However, even when
this parameter is set to "NO", the SSID command is not
    disabled.
    2. If a user connects to a remote subsystem using the CO line
command on panel ADB2DDF, a COMMIT is not done once the user
finishes their work. As a result, if the user exits Admin Tool
while still connected to the remote subsystem, they receive
    SQLCODE = -30080 / SQLCODEN30080 ERROR: COMMUNICATION ERROR 048,
and the following appears on the Db2 log:
    DSNB260I -ssid DSNB1PCK WARNING - A READER HAS BEEN
          RUNNING FOR <duration> MINUTES

    Issue 1:
When the IBM Tools Customizer for z/OS Product
Parameters 'Allow SSID cmd to switch Db2 subsystems'
is set to 'NO', the Db2 Admin Tool command SSID is
    not disabled.

    Issue 2:
After issuing the Db2 Admin Tool command
    'CONNECT <location>', wait several minutes,
and END/F3, the following error message occurs:

SQLCODE = -30080 with Communication Error
              0048 (0000-08640000).
Depending on environment, an SQLCODE = -30081
    can also occur.

Problem conclusion

  • SSID, -30080, and -30081 incidents have been resolved.
