Error description
The CICS region comes down with a DFHTD0382 message when a very large size of the TD queue is specified. The RBA value is going over x'80000000'. CICS isn't designed to do that and that caused the problem. During CICS region startup, you may see a DFHTD0386 message, DFHTD0386 The high RBA value of the primary extent for intrapartition data set (DD name ddname) is X'highrba'. This exceeds the maximum allowable value of 2GB, and will be capped to a value of X'80000000' minus the CI size of the data set. . Additional Symptom(s) Search Keyword(s): DFHTD0382, TD queue, DFHTD0386, 80000000, RBA, KIXREVSJH.
Local fix
Make sure that size of DFHINTRA does not exceed 2GB
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: An application using transient data * * causes message DFHTD0382 to be issued * * and then CICS abends. * **************************************************************** An application performs so many WRITEQ TD operations to a TDQ without a corresponding number of READQ TD operations, that the 2 gigabyte size limit of the DFHINTRA data set is exceeded. This leads to message DFHTD0382 being issued, and CICS terminating. The user action for DFHTD0382 points to message DFHTD0380 for further explanation, but this scenario is not currently included within those explanations. ADDITIONAL KEYWORDS: msgdfhtd0382 msgtd0382 msgdfhtd0380 msgts0380
Problem conclusion
Message DFHTD0380 has been amended to add an explanation detailing the size limit of the DFHNTRA data set being, or about to be, breached. The CICS Knowlegde Center for Versions 5.4 and 5.5 needs to be changed so that message DFHTD0380 has the following appended to the end of the "Violations include" section: The High Write RBA of the DFHINTRA data set may have reached, or exceeded, the allowed maximum value of x'7FFFFFFF'. CICS may be restarted. An emergency restart for transient data will back out all uncommitted records from the intrapartition queues.
