APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • In IBM Developer for z v14.1.4, enabling Bidirectional
Development->Bidirectional development capabilities causes the
highlight feature of the Spool Viewer to malfunction.

Steps to recreate:

1. Create a new workspace

2. Connect to z/OS using RSE
3. Open the JESJCL DD of a job - JCL is highlighted
4. Enable Window->Preferences->Bidirectional
Development->Bidirectional development capabilities
5. Refresh or reopen the JESJCL from step 3 (or another one).

Local fix

Problem summary

  • The coloring was broken because all line was pre-pended by LRO

Problem conclusion

  • Another solution is now implemented: each individual strong RTL
character is surrounded by LRMs
