PH08540: ADBPZAT LINE COMMAND DEL FAILS DB2 DROPPED ACCELERATED TABLE CANNOT BE DELETED BECAUSE IT CONTAINS ARCHIVED PARTITION(S)

APAR status

Error description

• An attempt to delete (via the DEL line command on panel
  ADBPZAT) an archive enabled accelerator table may fail with the
  following error message, even though the table has already been
  dropped on Db2:
  
  Accelerated table cannot be deleted because it contains archived
  partition(s).
  
  This APAR allows the drop of such a table.

Problem summary

  *                      even though the Db2 table has already   *
  *                      been deleted from the Db2 catalog.      *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  When deleting a table from the accelerator that is involved in
  an archived relationship and is already deleted from Db2, the
  error message below appears:
  
     "Accelerated table cannot be deleted because it contains
      archived partition(s)."
  

Problem conclusion

• The problem has been resolved. To fully address the issue
  described here, four changes have been made:
  
  1. Accelerated table will be forced deleted if it has archived
     partitions and Db2 table has already been dropped/deleted.
  2. When deleting a group of accelerated tables which have 1 or
     more tables that have archived partitions, a popup panel will
     ask if user wants to force delete the tables.
  3. Change management will force delete an accelerated table even
     if it has archived partitions if the change is dropping or
     altering the Db2 table.
  4. A new error message is returned when trying to Archive or
     restore archived partitions for an accelerated table that
     has been dropped from Db2.
     "Table can not be archived because table does not exist
     in SYSTABLES."
