Error description

  • Using IBM Developer for z Systems v14.1.3 a coordination
problem in the routines that figure out who owns MVS file locks
can cause slow WRITE and READ during the SAVE process.
In parallel, we can notice the lack of timeout indicators and
missing information in DISPLAY PROCESS and DISPLAY CLIENT
    operator commands.

If two users on the same threadpool attempt to query MVS file
lock owners at approximately the same time, one of them will
    suffer a 10 second delay.
This lock owner query processing is called when retrieving the
attributes for the file, which occurs frequently.
This is relevant when two users attempt to edit files nearly
    simultaneously.
This intermittent error also causes the general timeout
threadpool and slow response to the operator DISPLAY commands.

Moreover, we find that timeout indicators and information may be
missing in DISPLAY PROCESS and DISPLAY CLIENT operator commands

Local fix

  • Decreasing the Maxclient value to 7 has stopped the problems
