Error description
A decimal divide exception s0CB may appear on an incorrect line number when using IBM Fault Analyzer or IBM Debug Tool for z/OS. Problem occurs when compiling the COBOL program with NOTEST(DWARF), OPT(2), and ARCH(10) or ARCH(11).
Local fix
Compile with ARCH(9)
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of Enterprise COBOL V5.2 compiling * * programs with TEST(DWARF) and ARCH(10|11) * * that do a PACKED-DECIMAL or USAGE DISPLAY * * division by zero. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The abend appears to be on an incorrect * * line number when using IBM Debugger * * for Z or Fault Analyzer. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. * **************************************************************** At ARCH(10|11), the compiler may use decimal floating point (DFP) to improve performance of PACKED-DECIMAL or USAGE DISPLAY arithmetic. The DFP division instruction generates a different abend for a division by zero than the PACKED-DECIMAL division instruction. To ensure the abend is the same when using a DPF division instruction, the compiler first tests the divisor, and when the divisor is zero, it generates an intentional packed division by zero. That division by zero is out-of-line from the rest of the division code. The first out-of-line instruction shares an offset with the return instruction, causing it to appear on a different line in IBM Debugger for Z or Fault Analyzer.
Problem conclusion
The compiler was fixed to insert a dummy instruction between the return instruction and the first out-of-line instruction, so the out-of-line instructions appear on the correct line number.
Temporary fix
