Error description

  • USERS AFFECTED: Users of Enterprise COBOL Vx.x compiling
programs that use IF or EVALUATE statements
comparing data items of size 8 bytes or
    less
    to literals

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The optimizer may incorrectly remove
the wrong branch of code, resulting in
    incorrect behaviour

    WORKAROUND/CIRCUMVENTION: None

RECOMMENDATION TO CUSTOMER: Apply the provided PTF

PROBLEM SUMMARY: When the optimizer was able to determine that

eliminate all but one possible branch. The optimizer was
    eliminating the wrong branch.
