Error description

  • In IBM Explorer for z/OS Host v3.1.1.13, using the modify
operator command (F rsed,APPL=LOGS ...) or the Help > Collect
Logs wizard on the client to collect host logs results in a

    * memory overlay in ECSA. *
    *                      3.feklogs.rex "Routine not found" error *
    ****************************************************************
1.In the z/OS Explorer "Data Set Characteristics" tab of the
"New Data Set" wizard, the "LIBRARY(PDSE)" option does not
explicitly create a PDSE v1. When the "LIBRARY(PDSE)" option is
selected, the actual PDSE version is determined by the value of
the PDSE_VERSION keyword in the IGDSMSxx parmlib member. Thus,
on systems where PDSE_VERSION(2) is specified as the default,
there is no way to create a PDSE v1 from the New Data Set
wizard. This also affects the "Allocate Like" action/wizard
when creating a new PDSE using the attributes of an existing
     PDSE v1.
2.z/OS Explorer provides a IKJEESX0 TSO SEND exit to allow TSO
users to send messages to z/OS Explorer & IDz users. When this
exit is in use and multiple TSO SEND commands are strung
together in a single command and the total length surpasses
349 characters, a memory overlay will occur in ECSA subpool
241, possibly destroying data belonging to another application.
3.In z/OS Explorer, using the modify operator command
(F rsed,APPL=LOGS ...) or the Help>Collect Logs wizard on the
client to collect host logs results in a feklogs.rex error
     when RDz/IDz is also installed.
        3583 +++        xRC=listdsi(Buffer.DD 'FILE')
        ...
     IRX0043I Error running <install directory>/feklogs.rex,
     line 3583: Routine not found

Problem conclusion

  • 1.The zOS Explorer client and server modules are updated. When
an updated client is connected to an updated server, the user
can explicitly choose to create a PDSE in the "New Data Set"
     wizard using:
"LIBRARY(PDSE)", which will create a new PDSE using the default
version defined by the PDSE_VERSION keyword in the IGDSMSxx
     parmlib member.
"LIBRARY(PDSEv1)", which will create a new PDSE v1.
"LIBRARY(PDSEv2)", which will create a new PDSE v2.
2.The IKJEESX0 exit now checks the TSO command length before
     populating the ECSA buffer.
3.Added logic to determine the environment as listdsi is only
     available in TSO
