PH04494: THE ENTERPRISE COBOL V6.2 COMPILER COULD ABEND DURING COMPILE TIME IN COMPILER PROGRAM MODULE IGYCDMAP

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• With some COBOL source programs, the compiler would ABEND
  during compile time when generating ADATA.  Specifically, the
  COBOL source program would need to contain sufficiently long
  IV data in a Data Description Entry such that the generated
  ADATA record is required to be continued onto another, new
  record.  During this processing, an internal logic error
  would result in an ABEND during compile time.
  

Local fix

• Turning off the ADATA compiler option will prevent the compiler
  ABEND, but will not produce ADATA output.

  With some COBOL source programs, the compiler would ABEND
  during compile time when generating ADATA. Specifically, the

Problem conclusion

• The compiler was updated with a fix for the ABEND. It will now
  properly generate continued ADATA records in the aforementioned
  situation.
