PH03589: AFTER OPENING RATIONAL SOFTWARE ARCHITECT IN ANOTHER LANGUAGE, SOME MENU ITEMS ARE NOT TRANSLATED

APAR status

Error description

• If you open IBM Rational Software Architect Designer (RSAD) in a
  language other than English, a few of the menu items will not be
  translated into the target language.
  
  For example, if the target language is "French-France", the
  "Team", "Compare With", "Replace With" menu items still appear
  in English, even though the other menu items are correctly
  translated into French.
  
  The following are some test cases that more clearly demonstrate
  the problem:
  
  Scenario 1:
  
  1. Launch RSAD with "-nl fr" parameter to an existing workspace
  that contains a UML project & UML model
  
  2. Check the menus, context menus and submenus
  
  Expected Result: All menus including context menus & submenus
  appear in French.
  
  Actual Results: If you right-click on the UML model, the context
  menus are written in French, EXCEPT for "Team", "Compare With",
  and "Replace With".  However, if you then check the submenus of
  these same context menu items, they do appear in French as
  expected.
  
  Also, the "Check for Updates", "Install New Software...", and
  "Installation Details" menu items under "Aide" (French word for
  "Help") appear in English, which is not correct.  However, if
  you then select these particular menu items, you'll receive
  dialog boxes written in French, which is expected.
  
  Scenario 2:
  
  1. Launch RSAD with "-nl fr" parameter to a new workspace
  
  2. Create a UML project & UML model
  
  3. Check the menus, context menus and submenus
  
  Expected Result: All menus including context menus & submenus
  appear in French.
  
  Actual Results: As in Scenario 1, after right-clicking on the
  UML model, the context menus are written in French, EXCEPT for
  "Team", "Compare With", and "Replace With".  However, if you
  then check the submenus of these same context menu items, they
  do appear in French as expected.
  
  However, unlike Scenario 1, under the "Aide" main menu item, the
  "Check for Updates", "Install New Software...", and
  "Installation Details" menu items now appear correctly in French
  as "Verifier les mises a jour", "Installer un nouveau
  logiciel...", and "Details de l'installation".
  
  Scenario 3:
  
  1. Launch RSAD with "Run as Administrator" as well as the "-nl
  fr" parameter to an existing workspace that contains a UML
  project & UML model
  
  2. Check the menus, context menus and submenus
  
  Expected Result: All menus including context menus & submenus
  appear in French.
  
  Actual Results: The result is the same as Scenario 1.
  
  Scenario 4:
  
  1. Launch RSAD with "Run as Administrator" as well as the "-nl
  fr" parameter to a new workspace
  
  2. Create a UML project & UML model
  
  3. Check the menus, context menus and submenus
  
  Expected Result: All menus including context menus & submenus
  appear in French.
  
  Actual Results: The result is the same as Scenario 2.
  
  Scenario 5:
  
  1. Launch RSAD with "-clean", "Run as Administrator" as well as
  the "-nl fr" parameter to an existing workspace that contains a
  UML project & UML model
  
  2. Check the menus, context menus and submenus
  
  Expected Result: All menus including context menus & submenus
  appear in French.
  
  Actual Results: The result is the same as Scenario 1.
  
  Scenario 6:
  
  1. Launch RSAD with "-clean", "Run as Administrator" and the
  "-nl fr" parameter to a new workspace
  
  2. Create a UML project & UML model
  
  3. Check the menus, context menus and submenus
  
  Expected Result: All menus including context menus & submenus
  appear in French.
  
  Actual Results: The result is the same as Scenario 2.
