Error description

  • When compiling more than one compile unit in the same compiler
invocation (known as a batch compile), the compiler fails to
reset the working-storage and compiler static sizes to zero
between compile units; the sizes become cumulative over the
    batch.

This is evident from the LIST and MAP outputs. The PPA4 "Entry
Point Constants" entry for working-storage length eg. "Length
DATA31" is cumulative, as is the "WSA allocation size" field in
the compile unit prolog. These incorrect sizes also result in
incorrect allocation of these areas at run-time.

Local fix

  • Compile one compile unit at a time

    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. *
    ****************************************************************
The field giving the Length of DATA31 in PPA4 was not being
    reset between batch compiles.

Problem conclusion

  • Compiler was updated to reset the value for each compile.
