Error description
When the abend occurred, the PSW pointed to DSNXIBAT + x'6EE' ST instruction 50E0 D130. The ABEND0C4 occurred because R13 was x'00000000'. When label XFRR in DSNXIBAT is invoked, R1 is treated as SDWAPARM. But in this case SDWAPARM had x'00000BE0'.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Db2 11 and 12 users of * * attachment facilities. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: User receives ABEND 0C4-00000004 at * * location DSNWAAP0.DSNXIBAT+06EE when * * disconnecting from a Db2 attachment * * facility. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply corrective PTF when available. * **************************************************************** Users might receive ABEND 0C4-00000004 at location DSNWAAP0.DSNXIBAT+06EE when disconnecting from or terminating Db2 attachment facilities. Db2 incorrectly sets up a recovery routine environment during disconnect or termination processing. The ABEND occurs when a subsystem error happens during this environment setup and the setup leaves the subsystem in an incorrect state. If the subsystem error is an ABEND, this initial ABEND will generate the secondary ABEND 0C4-00000004 that this APAR describes. The following is an example: 1. User shuts down CICS and, as a result, CICS disconnects from Db2's CICS attachment facility. 2. Db2 sets up a recovery routine environment, in case an error occurs during disconnect processing. 3. An ABEND 04F occurs during recovery routine environment setup and this setup leaves the subsystem in an incorrect state. 4. Db2 cannot continue with this incorrect state and issues secondary ABEND 0C4-00000004.
Problem conclusion
Db2 is modified to correctly set up a recovery routine environment during disconnect or termination processing, which tolerates subsystem errors or ABENDs. Note that this APAR does not fix any errors or ABENDs outside of incorrect recovery routine environment setup. Additional Keywords: ABEND0C4 RC00000004 DSNWAAP0
