• User hit the following ABEND0C4 on two images when running some
  workloads.

  VERIFICATION STEPS:
  1) ABEND0C4 occurred in module BPXUNVFS on the client system in
  shared filesystem configuration when a UFS file system is being
  mounted
  2) The UFS file system being mounted was readonly
  3) User did not specify upperdir keyword in the mount parameters
  4) User used relative path for lowerdir in the mount parameters
  
  Example of the mount command:
  mount -t ufs -r -o 'workdir=w,lowerdir=l' mnt

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
  * ABEND0C4 may occur on the client                             *
  * system when attempting to mount                              *
  * a union file system in the shared                            *
  * filesystem configuration. Abend                              *
  * happens when the following conditions                        *
  * are met:                                                     *
  * - Mount the union file system readonly                       *
  * - Keyword 'upperdir' is not specified                        *
  * - Use relative path for the lowerdir                         *
  *   directory                                                  *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  When the keyword 'upperdir' is not specified, readonly union
  file system mount processing has no upper directory to use. It
  needs to use the first lowerdir directory as the first merged
  directory. Since union file system mount point is inaccessible
  on the client system, the pointer of the lowerdir directory is
  null. Accessing null pointer causes abend on the client system
  

Problem conclusion

• Check the pointer of the lowerdir directory for null before
  using it.
