Error description
Predictive Failure Analysis (PFA) configurations require a ZFS to house historical collected data for the different PFA checks. In shared filesystem environments each LPAR should have a unique path to contain the data each PFA check uses. When installations do not create unique paths per LPAR this can lead to corruption of PFA data files. Such that records are truncated and a large range of the file is filled with 0s instead of the expected data. In the problem where this has been seen, the check can vary, but it involved accessing the file SYSNAME.5day.all.data file (PFA_JES2_RESOURCE_EXHAUSTION check) or SYSNAME.sum file (PFA_PRIVATE_STORAGE_EXHAUSTION). External symptoms seen would be the filesystem filling up with Javacore, heap, and TDUMP files during PFA Modeling of the affected check
Local fix
Ensure that each LPAR has a unique path for its data in either the pfausers OMVS HOME() or the /etc/PFA/ini PFADIR= whichever is being used.
