**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All user of IBM Z Anomaly Analytics 5.1 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: These PTFs are a continuous delivery * * release fixing problems and adding * * functionality. See the Problem Summary * * for the list. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Install these PTFs. * **************************************************************** Log-based machine learning and metric-based machine learning cannot be deployed together on the same platform. Log-based machine learning can only be deployed on Linux and metric-based machine learning can only be deployed on z/OS UNIX System Services. Deploying different components of the product on different platforms increases the time and coordination between platforms required to install and configure the product. Metric-based machine learning takes a long time to deploy. There are many prerequisites required and configuration options that must be set. This makes installation and configuration time-consuming and error-prone. Metric-based machine learning uses significant CPU (both GP and zIIP) for scoring.
Problem conclusion
Beginning with service level 5.1.x.15 (this PTF), metric-based machine learning can be deployed on Linux alongside of log-based machine learning and the Problem Insights server. This decreases the time and coordination between platforms required to install and configure the product. Z Common Data Provider is the only component that must still be deployed on z/OS. Beginning with service level 5.1.x.15 (this PTF), metric-based machine learning can be deployed on Linux. When metric-based machine learning is deployed in this way, Machine Learning for IBM z/OS and Db2 for z/OS are not required or used. Training of analysis models and scoring are performed internally, and data, scores and models are stored in an internal document store. Also, the configuration options are reduced by more than 95%. This significantly decreases the time required to install and configure the product. Beginning with service level 5.1.x.15 (this PTF), metric-based machine learning can be deployed on Linux. When metric-based machine learning is deployed in this way, scoring throughput is significantly improved and CPU overhead is significantly reduced. Memory utilization is also improved.
