OA59883: $DMEMBER OR SDSF MAS PANEL INDICATES COMMAND=($PCNVT)

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When issuing $DMEMBER command on z/OS 2.4 that includes MAS
  members with lower release levels (z/OS 2.2, z/OS 2.3), the
  display output may contain COMMAND=($PCNVT) for the non-z/OS 2.4
  members.
  
  $PCNVT indicates that a $P CNVT (stop Converters) command is in
  effect for that member even though this command was first
  introduced in z/OS 2.4 and has no meaning for the lower
  releases.
  
  $PCNVT is also displayed under the heading 'COMMAND' on SDSF's
  MAS panel.
  
  KNOWN IMPACT:
  Incorrect display of COMMAND=($PCVNT) for non-z/OS 2.4 releases
  
  VERIFICATION STEPS:
  1) Running z/OS 2.4 (HJE77C0) with z/OS 2.3 (HJE77B0) and/or
     z/OS 2.2 (HJE77A0)
  2) JES2 has not been cold-started in about 20 years
  3) $DMEMBER display contains COMMAND=($PCNVT) for non-z/OS 2.4
     members.
  4) SDSF MAS panel under heading COMMAND shows $PCNVT

  The $P CNVT indicator in the QSE reuses a bit that was last
  used in HJE7705 (z/OS 1.2) to indicate that OW03267 was
  applied.  If a member has been in use since that time, the
  bit will be residually on and the JES property SSI will
  return with JPX22PCN.  This results in the $D MEMBER command
  displaying COMMAND=($PCVNT) for down level members.
  
  Additionally, products like SDSF will display a command of
  $PCNVT for the down level member.
  

Problem conclusion

• TYPE/RESTART (HOT) IPL/REQUIRED (NO) CLPA (NO)
  
  Initialization code has been updated to reset the $P CNVT
  indicator for any pre-HJE77C0 member of the MAS.  Existing
  code already clears the indicator for the current HJE77C0
  member.
