Problem summary

* USERS AFFECTED: Users of zSecure Alert, CKQRADAR or CKQCEF   *
*                 configured to send messages to a UNIX syslog *
*                 receiver via TCP/IP connections.             *

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: zSecure Alert, CKQRADAR or CKQCEF do    *
*                      not send alert, LEEF or CEF event data  *
*                      respectively to a UNIX syslog receiver  *
*                      via a TCP/IP connection in cases where  *
*                      the TCP connection is terminated by the *
*                      syslog receiver, or a firewall.         *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION: Apply the PTF provided and review the        *
*                 documentation updates.                       *
****************************************************************
When a UNIX syslog receiver, or firewall, terminates the TCP/IP
connection, zSecure does not recover the  syslogtcp network
connection properly, resulting in lost data at the syslog
receiver.

Problem conclusion

  • zSecure has been modified so that it properly recovers the
TCP/IP connection, and data is not lost, in cases where a UNIX
syslog receiver, or firewall, unexpectedly terminates the TCP/IP
connection.
