Error description
When a VSAM LSR Pool is deleted, VSAM will free various control blocks and if they are page fixed it will issue a PGSER RELEASE In the reported case a data set that was open in LSR mode was being closed and the PGSER RELEASE was issued with a very large range - (X'00000000' to X'7C03FFFF'). This resulted in the abend COD and a spin loop. Other symptoms are 0C4 abends in csect IDA0192Y in load module IDA0192A when attempting to free storage. And ABEND073 RC24 after a SETLOCK OBTAIN for RSMC in IAXPP when doing a PGSER RELEASE. Additional symptoms: CICS jobs fail with ABEND 071- excessive spin loops reported by message: DFHKE0997 DFHKESTX DRIVEN FOR CLEANUP ON AN ESSENTIAL TCB WITH COMPLETION CODE 00071000. UNABLE TO RECOVER. DFHKE0201 ABOUT TO TAKE SDUMP. DUMPCODE: KERNDUMP, DUMPID: 0/0000. (MODULE DFHKESTX). CICS is closing a file at the time of this error. USER'S AFFECTED: This problem affects any users of LSR pools that specify hiperspace buffers. This includes users of SMB (System managed buffering) who specify hiperspace weighted, SMBHWT. Local fix
Remove the PTFs for OA50752 if possible. These are UA92659 UA92660 Or Remove Hiperspace Buffers from those applications that use VSAM LSR with Hiperspace buffers.(Sometimes you will see HBUFNI= or HBUFND= in the AMP keyword or the SUBSYS keyword on the DD card for the cluster in the job. Remove HBUFNI and HBUFND, hiperspace buffers). Other users of hiperspace buffers include IMS and CICS and VSAM System Managed Buffering (SMB). Or Install ++apar or PTFs for OA53728 when available
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of VSAM LSR pools with hiperspace * * buffers who have PTFs for OA50752 applied * * (UA92659 and UA92660). * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Various abends can occur during BLDVRP * * or DLVRP if using hiperspace buffers. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply PTFs. * **************************************************************** The building of hiperspace buffers in an LSR (Local Shared Resources) buffer pool can corrupt the resource table and cause abends either during clean up of a build or during deletion of the pool.
Problem conclusion
Logic for hiperspace buffers has been corrected to add to the resource table correctly. KEYWORDS: DSENCRYPT/K
