Error description

  • An abend 0c9 may occur in GFTAVMA when running with the ESTIMATE
keyword. This is related to amount of data being processed by
    GFTAVMA.
     EXTERNAL SYMPTOMS:

     SYSTEM COMPLETION CODE=0C9 REASON CODE=00000009
     DATA AT PSW 000394CA - 721D4FE0 8A0450E0 89E012EE
                                 !!!! !!!!
                                 CVB This may vary

In the report output produced prior to the abend you may see
     the following message:

     GFTA210W PRINT VALUE OVERFLOW
     ANALYSIS:

The 0C9 abend occurs when csect GFTAREST is accumulating
totals. It has been adding these in packed decimal, and is
attempting to convert to binary to be printed.

In the reported case, the offset in GFTAREST was X'25B0' though
     that may vary.
     VERIFICATION STEPS:

If the ESTIMATE keyword is removed and the job runs
successfully this is the easiest verification.
     ADDITIONAL SYMPTOMS:

     ABEND0C9, ABENDS0C9

Local fix

  • BYPASS/CIRCUMVENTION:

Remove the ESTIMATE keyword, or reduce the amount of data being
     processed by VMA
