Error description
Have defined a IP and SNA connection to a remote domain using RMTALIAS and RMTSYN in CNMSTYLE. Browsing a Netlog on a remote domain using command: BR DOMAIN=XXXXX NETLOG If PF7 or PF8 is used to scroll up or down when browsing the remote log, the browse will terminate with the following msgs: BNH079I REMOTE BROWSE WITH *.XXXXX TERMINATED. DWO570I UNABLE TO ESTABLISH REMOTE SESSION ON USIBMNT.NTVCD WITH SENSE: X'08A8000A'
Local fix
A workaround for this problem would be to specify a RMTSYN statement with the real domain and netid values to contain the hostname and port for RMTCMD to find.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of Tivoli NetView for z/OS V5R3 or * * V5R4 who define RMTALIAS statements. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When a RMTSYN for a remote NetView * * program is specified by a RMTALIAS * * statement where the network ID is not * * the real NETID for the remote NetView, * * and the RMTSYN statement defines an IP * * address or hostname, remote browse of a * * netlog (NETLOGA, NETLOGI, NETLOGP, * * NETLOGS) results in msgBNH079I and * * msgDWO570I when any action is taken * * (scroll, ALL, F) after the initial * * display of the network log. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** With the introduction of the support for RMTALIAS, remote browse had to change to use the resolved domain and netid each time it wanted to validate the connection to the remote NetView. In order to do this, the domain and netid specified on the BROWSE command were substituted with (internally) the domain and netid that RMTCMD processing resolved to using any RMTALIAS and RMTSYN statements. However, these resolved names were then used on any subsequent RMTCMD requests (to handle scrolling, etc). If there is no RMTSYN or RMTALIAS definition for the resolved domain and netid, NetView will attempt to connect to the remote NetView using a SNA connection. If this connection is not allowed, BNH079I and DWO570I are issued, and the remote browse terminates.
Problem conclusion
The RMTDATA mapping in the CNMDVIB definition is being changed to contain 2 new fields, which will contain the domain and netid values specified on the BROWSE command. Module CNMCAVIB is being changed to copy the domain and netid values to these new fields when it allocates and initializes the RMTDATA storage. Module CNMCASVB is being changed to use the new fields on the RMTCMD requests for remote browse as well as any debug messages that are issued containing the domain and netid to report RMTCMD completion.
