LO58661: PROBLEMS IF FOLDER NAME CONTAINS AN UNDERSCORE ( _ )

APAR status

• Closed as Permanent restriction.

Error description

• If users uses an underscore ( _ ) in folder names many problems
  comes up: the
  charachter will be not displayed, subfolders do not work
  correct,
  using IMAP access to folders not possible... and so on. It is
  known that an
  underscore is a reserved charachter (TN1291847).
  
  Problem from Customer:
  
  He created folders with one or more underscores in folder names.
  If he connect
  to Domino using IMAP the folders can not be accessed. Error
  message:
  
  'IMAP4 Server Error: Unable to complete request. Mailbox does
  not exist.'
  
  
  
  Customer knows TN1291847 and the limitation. But the IMAP RFC
  (http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc3501.html) do not contain
  informations that the
  underscore should not be used.
  Customer told us, that Lotus Notes is designed to use IMAP but
  is not
  compatible to IMAP for 100%. This should be changed.

• Using folder names without underscore (TN1291847)
