LO58047: ISSUE WITH THE ALIGNMENT OF ATTACHMENTS, WHEN PREVIEWED IN A BROWSER, IF THEY ATTACHED USING LN8.5.2 CLIENT

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Issue with how attachments appear when they are previewed in a
  web browser.
  
  It has been noticed that some attachments can appear staggered
  for some reason when previewed in a web browser if Louts Notes
  8.5.2 is used to add/upload the attachment.
  This does not occur if a Lotus Notes 8.5.1 client is used, the
  customer sees this as a bug in 8.5.2.
  
  Testing has shown that there seems to be some link with the
  length of the attachment name, as shorter named attachments
  displayed correctly under each other.
  
  
  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Install domino 8.5.1FP2
  2. Install notes 8.5.2 & create an admin user.
  3. copy the .pdf and the .xls file from the customers sample
  and save them locally.
  4. create a new lotus notes application on the 8.5.1FP2 server,
  which has DocLib template (doclbw7.ntf).
  5. open the newly created db & select "new document", enter
  a subject & attach both documents and then select "save and
  close".
  6. Open the document, and you will see that both attachments
  will show correctly aligned to the left & display one over
  the other.
  7. Select the document, then on the notes toolbar select
  "actions"-> "previw in web browser" -> "Internet explorer"
  8. You will be prompted to log in, then select the document &
  double click it to open.
  ==> you will see that the attachments are shown staggered
  rather than under each other.

  If you do the same test but this time add the attchments to the
  web doc database with a 8.5.1 notes client and you will notice
  that the same attachments appears correctly aligned under each
  otherin the web preview.

Local fix

• 1. use shorter names on the attachments
  2. use notes 851 to add addachments.
