Error description
The current functionality in Notes/Domino forces a delivery failure to be returned when an SMTP message fails to send with a 421 error. This behavior was designed so that other messages to that domain would not get held up in the queue as stated in SPR TMIZ6NMMTA. However, an immediate delivery failure is also preventing a message that may potentially route successfully on it's next attempt to route out successfully. It would be helpful if this functionality were an option that the server administrator can configure manually.

This APAR is associated with SPR# SAZR83GQE4. At this point, there are no plans to fix this issue in 8.0.x fix pack. If issue continues in 8.5x, it may be evaluated for a solution in a future 8.5x maintenance release.
